Jeffrey Jindra
Winemaker Jeffrey Jindra embraces the pioneering spirit of Mendocino County’s original sparkling house. First dabbling in wine during family meals, it was not until his time studying wine business strategies at Sonoma State University that Jeffrey became serious about wine. After graduation Jeffrey undertook what he thought would be one harvest to round out his perspective. That “one” harvest became seven as he studied under Chris Loxton learning about all aspects of wine from grape to bottle. Jeffrey completed the UC Davis extension program of viticulture and oenology and worked two different vintages in New Zealand. Following that he spent six vintages on the winemaking team at Husch Vineyards in the Anderson Valley.
The experience garnered working in Sonoma, New Zealand, and Anderson Valley coupled with his hands-on approach made Jeffrey the perfect fit to take over winemaking operations at Scharffenberger Cellars in early 2018. Jeffrey stays true to the winery’s original philosophy, to create stellar quality, delicious sparkling wines that reflect the diversity of the premier Mendocino County viticultural appellation.
