Vineyard Overview

The 18-acre vineyard has gravel and light sand on a fairly steep slope.

Because of the presence of a light sandy soil, approximately 20% of the vineyard is planted with Cabernet Franc, quite a high proportion for Pomerol. The soil expresses itself through the wine, adding a softness that allows it to be drunk young.

The remaining 80% is planted with Merlot vines grown on the gravelly part of the property, bringing the typical characteristic of the terrace of Pomerol to the wine: body, complexity and elegance.

A regular crop-thinning has been practiced for more than 10 years.

The vines, on average 30 years old, are planted on 21 acres with varied soils such as sand, where the Cabernet Franc shows its full character. Twenty percent of the vineyard is planted with Cabernet Franc—quite a high proportion for Pomerol. The remaining 80 percent is planted with Merlot vines grown on the gravelly part of the property. The vineyard management and the vinification are carried out traditionally and with the same care as on the other Moueix properties.
